I am getting ready to buy a wireless router and i am just wondering,
Do they work with all computers?
If not what year for a computer will be able to handle the signal and are there any signs that tell me my computer can take it?
Sorry this is a really stupid question.
Can all computers use a wireless router??antivirus programs
Any computer that has a network adapter (wireless adapter, or Ethernet adapter), and not just a dial-up modem, can use a wireless router to access a network connection.
A wireless router is able to support:
1. Ethernet adapters: by providing ports to plug the computer directly to the router.
2.wireless adapters: by providing wireless connectivity from the router, such network can be public (default) or private/with a password key (WEP/WAP)
A computer that will not work with your wireless adapter is a computer that was not built to have internet access, or was built to have a dial-up (through phone-line) access only (which by manufactured mode now, for the most part, are computers 5+ old)
Can all computers use a wireless router??computer protection
You will need a "wireless adapter" for the computer to be able to receive the signal. Unless it's a laptop built recently, it will surely have a wireless card/adapter built in.
as Kenny has said You will need a "wireless adaptor" for the computer to be able to receive the signal from the router, all new computers will have them built in if yours doesn't then you can buy a wireless adaptor that plugs externally into a u.s.b port on your computer, this is what i had to do for my old man as his lappy was a olden and didn't have one built in, they are not to expensive about 15 quid depending on the make
well as long as the PC has a network/usb port then yes it will. but it would help if you told us what your computer is (whats inside, processor, ram,)
Yes - if it's WiFi enabled. No if it's not. Hope this clears up the stupid question for you.
