Networking Computers?

I have two computers at home. A laptop and a main computer I want to enable file and resource sharing between the two of them. The cable comes out of the wall and into the cable box then an Ethernet cord runs to the wireless router. The wireless router sends a signal to the laptop. and an Ethernet cord from the wireless router is connecting to the server of the main computer. Is there any way I could do this. I have tried many things that to my dissappointment failed. Please help

hi

first try to have the internet connexion in main pc

activate the DHCP server in router

also activate the wifi in the router control panel

then let the ip of the main pc the be done automatically

control panel-%26gt;connection-%26gt;local network area -%26gt;proprieties-%26gt;select TCP/IP protocol -%26gt; select obtains ip automatically

when u have internet then u pass to laptop

u do the same for (tcp/ip) wifi connection and u specify the SSID wich u have in router for this wificard. also if u have do a WEP key security try to put it also in the WIFI connection for laptop

bye for now
make sure the laptop and the desktop are on the same network. On both computers, click- START- RUN

type in cmd and press enter.

on the command line, type: ipconfig

and hit enter

the IP address of both computers should be the same for the first THREE numbers, for example- 192.168.1......

If they are not, then thats your problem.

If they are, then recheck all your security settings. make sure both computers are using the same workgroup name.
