One computer with 2 monitors or 2 computers side by side?

I am trying to figure out what would be the best way to use my 2 computers..

2 computers side by side networking? Could have each computer doing different tasks.. playing music on one.. doing seperate things.. browsing on one.. doing something else on the other. good for multi tasking

or

2 computers in a network.. but 2 monitors working together as one desktop for a larger workspace for editing movies..

or

Is their some way to alternate between these 2 states quickly?

2 (one master and one slave) computers in network and two monitors to view the master computer will be the best possible combination

regarding networking of your PC's it all depends on kind of OS it has...

But I strongly feel this combo will rock, this is because you have larger workspace coupled by netwoked PC's

Hrm, you could get a serial switch box for the monitors and change video settings if you wanted to alternate between the two "on the fly" but I don't believe that would be all that "quick" probably 1-2 mins to convert things if you know exactly where you're going.
