Are computers smarter?

As the computer is able to perform more, the user is required to understand less. So the question is are computers smarter than humans? I know it takes a person to program and design the computer/programs, but the % of those who create the softwares and those who simply use the computers differs greatly.... what do you think? are computers smarter than you average person?

I would have to say it depends on what you mean by "smarter". You can put a lot of information into a computer to make it do things, but I do not think a computer really has "intelligence" in the true sense of the word. The computer just has information, and what it does with that information follows a fixed set of rules. Computers can be given information which programs them to appear "intelligent", but even this is not really "intelligence" but only a set of information that mimics it.

So, I would say that computers probably hold a lot more information than your average person, but as far as intelligence goes, we do have them beat.

I don't think they can really analyze things in depth or do Philosophy or Psychology They are great at math though %26 pure logic It would depend on the average person IQ well below normal or normal What do people consider normal? Try Psychology with this I'm getting into a mess cause I can't define average
Computers don't relay abstract thought. They're just 'bots' full of information that takes a human being to manipulate. If they thought for themselves (or us), then they could be classified as "Smart".
no, the computers are machine.
They can't be creative yet.
Define smart. If smart is simply algorithms bundled together to get an answer, then a computer is smarter than a human. They have beaten grand master chess players for cripes sake.
