Two computers can access through name but not pinging each other?

I can access the resources of two computers by typing \\computer name but can access by typing \\ip address .the name of the computers are displayed on both systems network neighbourhood

If you can access both in every way but not by pinging, then the two PC's are separated by a router or firewall that is blocking ICMP requests.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you absolutely have to "ping". If you do, check the firewall or router and see if ICMP requests are bieng blocked.

what will u do by pinging those.

anyway solution is again install thr LAN CD software.

DNS issue.. Dns Help in resolving Host Name to Ip address and IP to host name.. Check ur DNS configuration...
Is TCP/IP properly installed and configured?
