XPS vs. Home Computers?

What are the pros and cons of the XPS to the Home computers, as in, gaming computers vs. normal computers. Do the gaming computers offer less with protection, ect? Thanks

XPS vs. Home Computers?anti virus scan

Pros: It has Intel Core Duo Processors. Its the best solution for your entertainment needs. The graphics is AWESOME and the quality of sound and picture is amazing.

Cons: Its for entertainment value. Its heavy than most laptops and they have superfluous software in the computer that even 1 GIG of RAM cant handle. You can expect it to slow down as you add more programs into it.

I agree with you on the security. I think it will offer less security with all the addons and programs that will get built into it.

From what I can tell, not just with XPS computers, but all "gaming" oriented computers such as Alienware, no, they don't offer less production/protection. In fact, the machines can do a lot more. Since they are build with being able to play the newest games in mind, their power can also be used for simple everyday tasks, such as writing a paper for school, while listening to music, chatting with friends, and downloading pictures.

Plus, you can play the newest games on the highest settings with no trouble :)

You just need to think about how much you will be playing games. Is a $2,500 difference worth being able to play the newest Need for Speed on the highest settings? You can still play all the newest games in a normal home computer, provided it has a decent video card and a lot of RAM. Just play the game on lower settings, and you're fine. Again, it boils down to how much time you'll be spending playing games.
