Are our computers pre programed to break down?

I have a good multi media computer and do not download anything without first making sure its safe...but have started getting messages " microsoft has incountered a prob and needs to close down sorry for any inconvinince caused" plus i have only had this computer ( brand new ) from currys october last year and have found stuff on the c drive dating back to 2003---- whats going on-- and my dad was looking at torrents for a reg cleaner and downloaded a good one but after he done this his pc started to freeze up ect ect minor probs... one might think that there was something in his download to cause this but i dont think so because no sooner had he downloaded his reg cleaner ( free ) he got an e-mail from his current internet security offering him a reg cleaner for 14.99.... suspect things going on or what....How did they know that he needed a reg cleaner ( did they make the prob ? ) computers are big money makers and i think pre programed to bust before you get them--- what do you think

I repair computers for a living and I wish they were pre-programmed to break down as this would bring me huge amounts of business. But I don't think they are.

Lots of the Windows stuff is dated with the date the file in question was created so that could easily be 2003 or earlier.
