i have two computers both run Windows Xp.One of the computers has 2 ethernet ports and the other has one.i have one dsl modem.I also have a ethernet crossover cable.Whats are the steps i take to make both computers work on the same internet

Yes this can be done here is a link to walk you through how to do this its not very hard a router does make life nice but I have done this my self works great here the link

The cool thing I am doing is setting up smooth wall wich is a linux based fire wall that does all that for you its pretty nice works well http://www.smoothwall.org
I see this question all the time and people that do not know windows as well always say you need a router wont work man this works fine go back to learning computers
