Computers geeks ...help needed please?

I have a windows xp desktop computer (#1) connected to the internet via comcast high speed. I just bought a cheap dell desktop (#2) -- a windows xp pentium 4, but it doesnot have a CD rom drive. Id like to connect both computers together to share files -- that is, I want to download files from comp #1 to comp #2. What might be the eassiest way to do this?

Its either buy a router or make an Crossover cable.

crossover cable is much cheaper rather than buying a router or Hub/Switch.

In making a Crossover cable you need a Cat5, Cripting tool and rj45.

Buy a router.
Connect a network cable to the back of each computer connecting them together and changing the settings to enable the computers to talk to each other etc and share information,,,, or buy yourself a Flash USB stick and transfer all the data using that.
Either buy a router.. around 70-80 dollars, or get a flash drive. It will take a while with a flash drive, but it may be cheaper.
you could buy a flash drive which is like putting everything on a cd or floppy disk but better or you could send it through the internet
Do both computers have network cards if so a roll of network cable or a wireless network router is the two ways to do this if not you have to get some network cards installed
