Computers and CD-Drives..???

in the future can computers run without CD-Drives....on some new computers they already removed the floopy drives....i think it would be cool.....can they just make it bypass the CD drive at start up...i know what your think well what if you have to install something. cant companys just place their data on a thumb drive?....

Maybe, but not likely. Would you want to have to buy a new thumb drive every time you wanted new software, per say you have no Internet and have to buy at a retail store. Do you think Wal Mart would have a download center put in?

FYI

Any one who builds still has a floppy drive. I needed the floppy drive just to install the RAID drivers. At 20.00 for a floppy drive, how can you justify not putting one it.

I think that using disks to transfer data is cool but it's true that having usb keys would be better if they could contain 20 gb.
