Why do other computers try to access my computer's ports?

I use a firewall from AOL that allows me to view the IP addresses of computers that are frequently blocked from accessing my computer ports. I use a wireless card and gateway to access the internet, on a personal secure network.

Can anyone explain to me what it means when other computers try to access mine? Does it have anything to do with using a wireless connection and other computers trying to connect through mine?

Thanks

It has to do with being on the internet, pure and simple. There are viruses and bots on the net that are continuously trying to find unprotected systems to spread malware. Using a firewall is your defense to this activity. Keep your firewall up to date as well as your anti-virus and anti-spyware software and don't worry about it.

Anyone trying to hijack your wireless connection will NOT show up in your firewall logs but in the wireless router or access point logs. If you've locked your wireless down there's little to worry from that.

mostly they want to steal ur files or sending viruses.always check ur firewall
It can be a variety of things.

1.You might have others living close to you using the same ISP

2.Hackers

3.Other computers using the same wireless router in your house.

Your ISP can help resolve this problem.
If you are using wireless, I'm assuming you have a wireless broadband router. The firewall built in the router is sufficient for blocking most unwanted connections. The protection, along with antivirus software, should keep you safe.

As someone already said, access attempts likes these are part of being online. Nobody is singled out, everyone sees the same type of activity.
