Navy-computers?

where can i find a list of different career chices for computers in the navy. i went on the navy.com website and it didnt really say all the jobs it has in the computers field.......what kind of jobs are out there that you guys would prefer in the computer field????

Navy-computers?computer protection

Navy computer ratings = IT, ET, FC, IC

Look on the site again and read about those.

Every job in the Navy uses computers now though.

Navy-computers?free antivirus download

I deal with comps quiet abit as Sub Sonar Tech. We use Linux and Unix based systems. But it is generally well always the Senior guys who really play with the guts and programming of them (lots of them for me). Junior guys are mainly operators, but are taught to do minor things with them.

But Overall We operate the systems, fixing them is not even close to the most important thing. Knowing what they can do so you can get very ounce of info is bigger than knowing how to fix them.
First off, every job in the Navy dealing with computers is operations, not programming or repair. Second, the Navy's computer are going to be military/commerical, not the laptop/civilian junk you're typing on right now. Third, the military computers are going to be very primitive and yet incredably robust- they have to be able to handle EMP in case of a nuke war.

If I was going to go Navy, I'd be looking REALLY HARD at being a Sonar Operator on a submarine- they call the shots and drive the ship. Go see the movie "Hunt for Red October" if you'd like to see a fairly realistic movie
There are many fields int he Navy that deal with computers. IT's do, well IT stuff. AV's deal with Avionics computer systems. ET's, IC's, FC's, the list goes on. Most any recruiter will be able to give you detailed information on available Navy computer fields.
I hate how they confuse you by not showing the real job names..
