Are brains really comparable to computers?

So called "experts" say that in a while (maybe 50 years) we have computers as powerful as our brains. Is the brain really comparable to a computer in such a way that you can say computers are as powerful as them. Seriously, how is it possible for a computer to exhibit curiosity? They are not in control of themselves, they think based entirely of what they are told to think (from hard drives, CDs, etc.) Why do they assume that to achieve AI they must create a computer as powerful as our brain?

You got to remember a computer cant react it can only calculate. Really don鈥檛 think that people will be able to duplicate the complicated algorithms of the human thought process. Any case not in our live times.

they cannot think on their own..

we make them capable to think..

now, if we are capable to program them in such a way that they can compete us... it would surely mean that our thinking level has also increased... so only we are able to program them in a better way..
