When you save it click the arrow on the Save As and click Compatibility Mode.

You can avoid having to remember a memory stick by copy and pasting your documents to Google Documents if your school lets you on it. Most schools do because its Google.

Office 2007 uses new file formats.

Either persuade the school IT admin to install the Office Compatibility Pack on the school's machines or when you are using Office 2007 at home, save your files as the older formats - just avoid using File/Save but Save As
click on the arrow next to save as. There should be a save as nintey something to 2003 option. click on that and save it on the memory stick
another choice is to install

'microsoft office compatibility pack for word, excel and powerpoint 2007'
